On July 25, 2026, Foshan Chancheng Hospital International Medical Center (FIMC) welcomed a delegation of 14 senior healthcare professionals from seven South Pacific island nations: Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu, Samoa, Tonga, Solomon Islands and Kiribati.
The visit was part of the on-site exchange program of the Fifth Advanced Medical Talent Training Program for Island Countries, organized by the Guangdong Provincial Health Commission. The delegation toured FIMC's facilities and joined a round-table discussion, experiencing first-hand the strengths of Foshan's international medical services and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Benchmarking International Healthcare
As the first hospital in Foshan selected for Guangdong's First Batch of International Medical Service Pilot Hospitals, FIMC demonstrated its high-standard, internationally oriented service model. The delegation visited:
- FIMC outpatient clinics and standardized inpatient wards
- VIP lounges and patient amenity spaces
- Support service facilities for international patients
They reviewed the intake workflow, multilingual service guarantees and direct-pay commercial insurance settlement system. Delegation members praised the center's functional layout, clinical processes and patient-centered philosophy.
Experiencing Traditional Chinese Medicine
In the TCM consultation area, delegates observed live demonstrations of acupuncture, tuina massage, bone-setting, moxibustion and ear-point therapy. Several participants experienced TCM appropriate techniques under the guidance of FIMC practitioners.
Through observation and hands-on experience, the delegation gained a more intuitive understanding of TCM's inspection, auscultation, inquiry and palpation diagnostic thinking and external treatment methods. They expressed strong interest in the cultural depth of Traditional Chinese Medicine and noted that TCM already has a recognized presence in the Pacific island countries.
Medicine as a Bridge
Delegation members said the visit broadened their horizons and deepened their understanding of Guangdong's healthcare development, international medical service models and the unique features of TCM. It built a friendship bridge for future health cooperation between both sides.
